The California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), Audit Services Section is currently accepting applications for an Associate Management Auditor (AMA). This vacancy will be filled as Permanent Full-Time.

About Us
The DOR works in partnership with consumers and other stakeholders across California to provide services and advocacy to Californians with disabilities. We administer the largest vocational rehabilitation program in the country and have a three-pronged mission to provide services and advocacy that assists Californians with disabilities in achieving integrated employment, independent living and having equality in the communities in which they live. Audit Services is an independent, objective appraisal function of the DOR that conducts internal and external audits, investigations, and consulting activities.

AMA responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Staff Management Auditor, the AMA will perform audits and investigations in accordance with applicable auditing standards: International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and Government Auditing Standards. In addition to performing internal and external audits, the AMA will conduct, internal/external investigations, provide consulting services and technical assistance to intradepartmental programs and other related assignments in an objective and independent manner with the highest level of professional quality and confidentiality for investigations and special assignments.

A candidate hired at the AMA level, which is the first full journeyperson level in the audit series, will function as lead auditor requiring independence and proficiency in handling the more complex and difficult assignments working alone or leading a team.

Please note that the auditor position requires a minimum of six units of accounting. If you do not have the minimum six units of accounting, you will not be eligible for the auditor classification.

SOQ Instructions:
Interested individuals must submit an SOQ in addition to the standard state application (form STD 678) and transcripts which demonstrate that you have met the minimum accounting units. If your qualifications are competitive, you may be invited to a formal interview. Please note that applications without the SOQ will not be considered. Resumes do not take the place of the SOQ.

When completing the SOQ, please include all relevant experience, education, and training, as applicable, and explain all answers thoroughly. Your SOQ should be typed, 14-point font, single spaced, no more than two pages, and should list and address the following questions:

1. Please state how you meet the minimum experience and education requirements, as stated in the CalHR job specification for the associate management auditor classification.
2. Describe your work habits and personality traits that contribute to productive working relationships and a harmonious working environment.
3. Describe in detail an audit or related project which demonstrated your best work and describe what were the value-added results and how those results benefitted your organization.
4. Describe how your unique background, experience and training make you the best candidate for this auditor position.
