JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Product Engineer (SNF, Seasonal New Fragrance) will be responsible for executing seasonal product development projects for existing product lines while working within a cross-functional team. This position will participate in the engineering efforts for seasonal projects from conception through production launch. You will ensure the product meets or exceeds expectations from a cost, timing, and specification standpoint while working with Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supports product development across existing product lines for all Newell Home Fragrance brands in an efficient manner to ensure speed-to-market on all seasonal programs (Fall/Holiday, Spring/Summer, Halloween, Easter, Valentine's Day etc.)
• Maintains and update Bill of Materials (BOMs) for seasonal product SKUs in our systems (Windchill, Oracle, SAP)
• Applies a basic understanding of product specifications, material selection, manufacturing processes, cost constraints, regulatory and legal landscape (intellectual property) to drive high quality, sustainable, and efficient product development.
• Tracks progress, identifies obstacles, and provides recommendations pertaining to systems and processes.
• Communicates with project leadership as needed, effectively supporting with additional data and reporting as required.
• Processes Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to support BOMs updates in Oracle for production.
• Supports manufacturing plant trials for existing seasonal forms in partnership with manufacturing and quality engineers as needed.
• Summarizes complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience to gain alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Food Science or related field is required.
• 0 - 2 years of product development experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of problem-solving techniques and methodologies.
• Candidate must be able to work as a team player and have demonstrated leadership ability.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and project management skills.
• Working knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
• Ability to perform multiple tasks at once and take direction from multiple individuals.
• Experience in the consumer products industry preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing environments preferred.
