Job Summary
The Department of History of Art at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time, tenured position for the Ilene H. Forsyth Distinguished Professorship in Early Modern Artto begin August 25, 2025. This is a university year appointment and will be at the level of associate or full professor in early modern art.

Responsibilities*
The position may be filled by an applicant working on art produced anywhere in the world between 1400 and 1800 CE. Research and teaching foci could include (but are not limited to) the themes of mobility, materiality, ecology, race, and gender, among others. The successful applicant will be asked to develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise doctoral students, undertake service appropriate to the rank, and participate actively in the events of the department.
Required Qualifications*
Employment will require both a criminal background check and an institutional reference check regarding any misconduct. Candidates will be required to submit a self-disclosure form as well as an authorization to release information form and must meet all degree requirements prior to the start date of the position.
