Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior VP of Youth Development, the Association Director of Youth Development is integral to driving initiatives and engagement in alignment with branch and association goals. This includes but not limited to, operations associated with Summer Camp, School Age Child Care, Programs, Charlotte County Reads, and others initiatives. He/She will actively supervise and mentor the Youth Development staff. This position provides multi-faceted leadership at the YMCA, and supports and works with membership, wellness, aquatics, and fundraising.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in managerial/team leadership.
  • Ability to conduct authentic conversations with staff to ensure an understanding of expectations as well as identify potential for leadership advancement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism to include excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the community served and an understanding of its needs.
  • Exemplary Customer Service Skills.
  • Proficient in MS (Excel, Word, Ppt).
  • Strong time management (individual and team) skills.


Essential Functions

  • Assists Senior Vice President of Youth Development to develop, plan and carry out logistics for association-wide youth development objectives and activities.
  • Assisting the Senior Vice President of Youth Development to standardize operating procedures and standards of quality for all programs and initiatives throughout the association.
  • Ensures that all the Youth Development policies of the organization are implemented.
  • Manages the budgeting process of assigned departments so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.
  • Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services in the community and assists and collaborates with the schools and other community services and programs.
  • Oversees and evaluates program registration and marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Youth Development branch leaders on related issues.
  • Works closely with Youth Development branch leaders to recruit, hire, train, and develops a highly engaged and professional staff team. Will provide leadership in ensuring all program staff is equipped to always provide the best experience possible.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and direction regarding operations, finances, programs, and long-range planning.
  • Attend and actively participate in association Core Business Leader meetings and statewide Peer Community Groups.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all data and records to maximize results.
  • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications

  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Compliance Trainings.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening.
  • Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policy.
  • Additional training classes as recommended by supervisor.
