Job Description

Purpose:

This position oversees the coordination of robotic equipment, supplies and implants necessary for the delivery of care to patients within Surgical Services Department. This position will work with robotic physicians to coordinate requests for each procedure scheduled. Ensures all equipment is ordered timely and available, working with vendors on new products and collecting information on these new products. Ensures all products approved are corporate approved, maintaining robotic preference cards, acting as a liaison between the physicians and Surgical Services Department and supports ongoing nursing and management with the needs of the schedule.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of surgery with a concentration in robotic surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and potential supervisory/managerial competency. Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to confront/resolve issues, ability to coach and motivate others, ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of others.
• Train new staff in the specialty of robotics.
• Assists OR Director with the annual robotic capital needs list.
• Identifies opportunities for decreasing costs.
• Seeks to improve turnover times and on-time starts for all robotic cases.
• Maintain clinical competency.
• Clinical trouble shooting of robotic system during procedures.
• Maintain adequate par levels of supplies.
• Coordinate with robotic coordinator any equipment issues.
• Serves as resource person for health care team members.
• Educate staff in the latest trends and up to date information to include new technology

Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and
2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and
3. Six (6) months of experience as a registered nurse.
