Responsibilities*

The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is soliciting applications from highly productive educators and scholars who will blend their demonstrated teaching, research/scholarship, and service experience in the Undergraduate and/or Graduate programs. Applicants will have an active or emerging program of peer reviewed and externally funded research. These individuals will move their programs of research to the University of Michigan and use it as a role model for development and mentoring.

The search for this position will occur during the 2024-2025 academic year. We are soliciting applications from established scholars and emerging scholars. Applicants will be considered for the rank listed above, dependent on applicant experience and research productivity. Applicants must have demonstrated research productivity and training activities. Applicants are expected to secure extramural funds to support their research programs. Required Qualifications*
  • PhD in nursing or highly related field.
  • For nursing PhD's, a current MI nursing license is required or eligibility for a nursing license in the State of Michigan.
  • Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s) and/or research site(s).
  • Record of first-author, databased, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in scholarly activity.

Additional Qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor:
  • Record of excellence in teaching.
  • Distinguished record of scholarly attainment in the realm of scientific investigation, publication, and utilization of research findings in teaching, research, and service.
  • A reputation among colleagues for outstanding achievements and recognized contributions in their field of expertise.
  • An admirable record of academic, professional and community service.

Additional Qualifications for the rank of Professor:
  • Sustained record of excellence in teaching, including experience with advanced students;
  • Sustained and growing record of scholarly eminence, which advances the frontier of knowledge;
  • A reputation among the candidate's colleagues and peers throughout the nation and preferably internationally for outstanding and continuing achievements in their field of expertise.
  • A reputation, supported by documented external evaluation, which recognizes the presence of leadership and the quality of research activities, publications, and contributions to the profession in comparison with other professors.
  • A continuing record of recognized accomplishments in academic, professional and community service
