Pay Range

$6,410 - $7,780 Monthly

This position is under a step structure. Salary is based on academic level. Transcripts are required.

Job Description

We have multiple openings for graduate studentsand for students who have received a bachelor's or master's degree to support/engage in practical research experience to further their educational goals. Opportunities include completing research and working on various projects withinthe fields of marine and terrestrial radioecology, analytical measurements, environmental science, groundwater fate and transport modeling, and ecology. Our overall mission is to integrate atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences in support of defense and global security. This position will be filled based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team.

In this roleyou will
  • Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced technical support to scientist in scientific research and development projects.
  • Conduct research in assigned area under limited direction and supervision.
  • Present work through report writing, presentations and/or poster sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be a continuing student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a field of . radiochemistry, biological, environmental science or related field.
  • Ability to apply basic principles in analytical chemistry to perform chemical separations of actinide elements.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
  • Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Security Clearance

This position requires either no security clearance, or a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level or Q-level clearance depending on theparticular assignment.

If you are selected and a security clearance is required, wewillinitiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. L and Q-level clearances require U.S. citizenship.

If no security clearance is required, but your assignment is longer than 179 days cumulatively within a calendar year, you must go through the Personal Identity Verification process. This process includes completing an online background investigation form and receiving approval of the background check. (This process does not apply to foreign nationals.)

Pre-Employment Drug Test
