General Description / Primary Purpose	This is work performing maintenance on and making repairs to campus small gasoline engine equipment, diesel tractors, cars and trucks, electric carts, industrial compactors and non-power equipment and attachments; includes the fabrication of metal repair parts and other implements using machine shop equipment.

Job Function

95% Maintains all grounds maintenance and construction equipment. Maintains Physical Facilities and other selected campus vehicles. Maintains campus electric carts. Maintains campus equipment. Metal fabrication, welding and machine work. Orders repair and replacement parts. Information processing and recordkeeping. Tire repair and replacement. Operates equipment. This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.

Marginal Functions	5% Supplementary responsibilities. a) assists other trades as needed; b) campus emergencies; c) work orders; d) keeps assigned shop area neat and clean; e) pumps out water from waste oil containment area.
Required Qualifications	Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in automotive repair; or a high school diploma and three years of experience directly related to the job functions. This position requires possession of a driver's license. Directly related college coursework or training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
