JOB DESCRIPTION

Project description:

The client is looking for a project automation engineer to be the technical leader for the ongoing build out of a new life science production facility in Philadelphia. They are wrapping up the physical design with process with the 3rd party engineering firm. They have not chosen which automation systems they will be using and are going out to competitive bid. They do not have a preference and are technology agnostic at this point.

Required skills:

• BS in Engineering degree (chemical, mechanical, or industrial preferred

• 5+ years-experience as an automation engineer in the pharmaceutical-biotech-life science industry, to include:

o Previous experience in the design, integration and commissioning of automation systems for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. This includes startup, testing and turnover.

o Previous experience as a project engineer managing Scope, Budget and Schedule review.

o Prior experience with vendor RFI/RFP/RFQ submittal review and change requests process management.

o Prior experience with managing engineering documents and change orders o Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and integrating Building Automation Systems (BAS), Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) platforms and Process Control Systems (PCS)

o Previous experience with Emerson DeltaV distributed control system

Consultant's day to day responsibilities:

• Coordinate with stakeholders (Facilities, IT, Manufacturing and Research) and CapEx project contractors/vendors to manage deliverables for the design and construction of facility automation infrastructure and systems.

• Work directly with contractors, consultants and vendors on testing and startup activities.

• Support Validation, Metrology, EH&S and QA with commissioning and troubleshooting.

• Provide technical expertise for evaluating responses to the RFI/RFP/RFQ process.

• Troubleshooting of utilities, building systems and manufacturing equipment

• Management of engineering documents and change order process

• Assist with and coordinate development of end user specifications and engineering specifications.

• Act as liaison between automation lead and the technical operations team including all contractors and consultants.
