Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Role/Purpose:

The Automation Engineering Coordinator under general supervision works and coordinates investigations, designs, implementations, and supports the custom automation solutions for a high mix low volume production environment. Acts as a point of communication between the Engineering department and the Production departments to implement automation solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of automation solutions to assist in the progression and adaptation for Smart Manufacturing and industry 4.0 across Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Research, investigate, and suggest new technologies for implementation to improve business and manufacturing process efficiency.
  • Assist with business case creation and justification to senior management for project buy in and approval, including capital expenditure, projected savings, and ROI.
  • Support and assist the affected personnel to increase their capabilities, knowledge, and skillsets for each automation project.
  • Maintains highest achievable 5S ratings throughout all areas of responsibility.
  • Always considers the company Green Initiative when planning activities, procuring supplies or disposing of materials or other assets.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including collaborative, industrial, and autonomous mobile robotics. (Fanuc experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge with some experience in heavy manufacturing (fabrication, welding, and machining), or electrical panel build, enclosure build, assembly, material handling or warehousing.
  • Process oriented, with the ability to assist in creating and analyzing process workflows to highlight opportunities for process automation.
  • Understanding of ERP & CAD data structures and how their alignment can aid or hinder production. (SAP & Team Center experience is a plus)
  • Familiarity with CNC Coding for Laser, Press Brake, Mill, Lathe, etc.
  • Ability to reach out to and work with suppliers to research and suggest new technologies for investigation.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • High level of motivation and drive is required.
  • Strong organization skills, with a high attention to detail.
  • Fluent computer skills in Microsoft Office based programs.

Minimum Education / Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates or Technical Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in high mix low volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in performing PLM engineering or operational transactions, preferably using SAP ERP system.
  • Understanding of product lifecycle management and MRP processes.
  • Microsoft Office proficient with experience using complex spreadsheet
