The Project Support Section (PSU) within the Mobile Source Laboratory Division (MSLD) is seeking an Automotive Emission Test Specialist III (AETS III). The mission of the PSU is to provide technical resolution and automotive expertise in support of the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) mobile source emission control programs by efficient delivery of project support services, including test vehicle acceptance and release, preparation and instrumentation, diagnosis and repairs, and logistics and maintenance.

The job requires the candidate to be knowledgeable in the automotive field to process test vehicles, install adapters in evaporative and fuel systems for testing, verify various parameters and diagnose vehicle's emission control systems. Document and enter test vehicle information into database and maintain a car wash station. Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs in a garage environment.

Working Conditions

This position is not currently eligible for telework. The incumbent will be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

• Standard office environment (for example, artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.)
• Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
• Must be able to move/transport test equipment and vehicle parts weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
