JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a strong candidate with project management and leadership skills to join our Business Operations team. The position requires strong management, interpersonal, and people leadership skills with an interest in utilization and introduction of new technology solutions. The AVP evaluates business processes, determines risk, and provides guidance to Allied Worlds' Underwriting team and external partners. The AVP engages with senior leadership, CUO and cross functional teams from IT, Actuarial, Legal, Compliance, Reinsurance, Finance, Claims, and Underwriting in product delivery. The position covers business unit writing in the United States and Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate new program/product implementation across multi- functional disciplines and external partners.
  • Oversee delivery of projects related to new program/product implementation, product management, underwriting system development and communication.
  • Evaluate current business processes and requirements. Uncovering areas for improvement, recommends and implements new processes, technologies and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Engage with business leads & CUO team to recommend and finalize standardized operating procedures.
  • Address Underwriting requirement issues, vendor questions, or technological risks to mitigate impact to timeline. Recognize and escalate issues that occur during project execution.
  • Responsible for stakeholder accountability and project timeline. Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Report on project metrics including progress, resource utilization, risks and issues.
  • Oversea team activity, training and back-up support to ensure productivity efficiency.
  • Facilitate meetings and handle appointment-scheduling. Interfacing with all levels of internal resources within the organization including UW, IT, Actuarial, Legal & Compliance, Reinsurance, Finance and Claims and requiring the ability to communicate issues clearly and effectively.
  • Coordinate with IT on IT-specific milestones as it relates to product implementation and maintenance.
  • Coordinate product development activities internally with the business as well as external partners.
  • Generate, update, maintain and distribute documents (i.e., project plans/schedules, procedure and process workflow documentation, training manuals, and meeting materials) to business stakeholders.
  • Participate as needed to support Enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing on product development and provide sign off.
  • Provide support for onboarding and training of new Operations staff as needed.


Compensation

$110,000 - $121,000

The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one component of Allied World's comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in project management.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant years in the Insurance industry.
  • Project Management certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in project management.


• Insurance professional designation preferred.

  • Strong, demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills, strong written & verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous database experience preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical skills.
