New opening for experienced accounting and tax professional to support all aspects of tax accounting under US GAAP and SEC reporting and global tax controversy for US-based multinational. In addition to strong technical accounting skills, candidate must demonstrate proven project management skills and ability to partner with finance and business teams from across all geographies and at all levels. Candidate must also be a team-player at core who thrives on collaborating closely with other tax and finance department professionals in extremely collegial and supportive work environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all aspects of accounting for the company's global tax provision under US GAAP

• Manage, review, and ensure accuracy of the quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations along with supporting workpapers

• Oversee and ensure accuracy and adequacy of all tax-related disclosures, including footnotes, for company's quarterly and annual SEC and other reports

• Coordinate with overseas tax colleagues to ensure timely collection of global tax provisioning data in light of quarterly close schedules

• SOX - ensure adequacy of internal controls relating to tax processes and update documentation as necessary

• Support the preparation of the tax provision on the statutory financial statements of our international subsidiaries. Liaise as necessary with local statutory auditors

• Work closely with the Global tax team and Controller's group to provide expert advice on tax accounting issues

• Conduct technical research on all tax accounting matters and prepare internal memoranda to document management's conclusions.

• ASC 740 - work with tax management to assess and maintain accuracy of company's accounting for uncertain tax positions, including assessment of uncertain positions.

• Supervise Transfer pricing team. Supervise Transfer pricing documentation and internal processes surrounding financial close.

• Supervise global transfer pricing audits and Advanced Pricing Agreements (APA).

• Manage global responses to direct and indirect tax audits, with local teams.

• Liaise and coordinate with external auditors and other advisors as needed.

• Review tax accounting processes and systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement

• Tax compliance - supervise and coordinate global compliance with tax team members.

• Provide tax accounting support for third-party M&A projects, including assessment of target's tax calculations and related processes, adequacy of ASC 740 balances, and post-acquisition calculations such as opening balances and net working capital.

• Monitor and assess tax accounting developments under US GAAP and globally.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and current CPA designation. MBA, MS in Tax, or other relevant advanced degree extremely helpful

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax accounting working for or with US-based multinational with significant overseas operations

• Prior tax accounting and auditing experience at Big 4 desired

• Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 740, SOX requirements, and SEC reporting

• Experience with income tax regimes of non-US jurisdictions, and related impact of foreign currency translation issues. Exposure to non-US GAAP accounting standards a plus

• Recent experience with tax accounting tools (e.g., OneSource Tax Provision, Hyperion, CorpTax, etc.) and their implementation extremely helpful.

• Experience in Transfer Pricing, other direct and Indirect tax controversy, on a global basis.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax personnel

• Self-starter with ability to work independently in fast-paced and flexible corporate environment

• Ultimate team player with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work seamlessly with other members of extremely collegial and supportive department and organization

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $162,500 - $266,900 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
