AWS EKS Engineer

Phoenix, Arizona

Employer: Insight Global
Industry: Software Engineering
Salary: Competitive
Job type: Part-Time

PROJECT SCOPE:

The project is primarily centered around EKS and the offerings within AWS (Kubernetes on AWS), and is the cross section of infrastructure engineering and CI/CD. The goal is to define HOW the team can use EKS for their use cases, while staying compliant based on regulatory requirements they go through. One of the main focuses for the org is how they can integrate all security controls from on prem, and use the same security controls across all public clouds.

DAY TO DAY:

This individual will be responsible for exploring what the specific gaps are currently needing to be addressed as the teams integrates more with EKS. While it is a great offering, you will act as an EKS SME and compare the current tools being used by AMEX in comparison to the tools offered, and determine the gaps in functionality if EKS is continued to be used with the public cloud environments. You will collaborate with multiple peer teams within the program, as well as help continue the EKS integration into the GCP cloud environment. You will be responsible for enabling CI/CD on each case, and working heavily with Kubernetes, including but not limited to additional work with Shell scripting and Linux commands/concepts. This role is more infrastructure engineering focused, setting up Kubernetes structures using GitHub, Linux scripting, creating the terraform scripts for the GitHub repository, etc; you will also be assigned tasks through Jira such as setting up new EKS clusters, adding permissions, writing and deploying test applications, etc.
