AWS is seeking a Strategy and Business Development (SBD) Leader to join our team in New York; Arlington, VA; or Seattle, WA. This is a unique opportunity to join a centralized corporate team that manages strategic partnerships across all of Amazon for our strategic AWS customers. As a Strategy and Business development leader, your role is to identify and deliver high-impact engagements. This person will be responsible for assessing inbound requests, independently managing opportunities end-to-end (commonly the most complex challenges in never-been-done before deals) and driving these high impact partnerships through to completion. We are looking for someone who has the business acumen to structure best in class partnerships that create value for Amazon, Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as our AWS end-customers. The ability to manage executive relationships (internal and customer-facing) will be critical as this person will negotiate partnership deals that are unconventional, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to AWS and other Amazon business units that are not immediately obvious.

This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of AWS and Amazon and expanding the teams current coverage model. You will need to work collaboratively with internal leadership teams to understand relative advantages and risks, if/when major features should be included to existing roadmaps, along having a pulse on current trends around innovation, consolidation, and cloud adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful technical and business analysis, while being able to balance the ability to quickly gaining the appropriate context to enable data-driven decision-making.

Proving you are an effective negotiator and communicator (written and verbal) is a critical part of this job. AWS Strategy and Business Development is a small, tight-knit team that values authentic, passionate individuals who think creatively and proactively seek out opportunities to advance the growth of initiatives across Amazon's businesses.

Key job responsibilities

• \tTake the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage partnerships that can involve marketing/advertising, content, commerce, and technology components.

• \tAbility to assess commercial feasibility for AWS and Amazon business and create new deal constructs.

• \tEvaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of partnerships.

• \tLead cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, and senior management to execute on the relationships.

• \tSupport the strategic objectives and interests of Amazon's business teams on a global basis.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience

- 5+ years of professional or military experience

- Bachelor's degree

- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations

- Experience in developing, negotiating and executing business agreements

- Thought leader with a solid understanding of advertising technologies and their intersection with commerce.

- Excellent oral and written skills to communicate complex issues and influence others internally and externally.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability gain respect of senior management and external executives.

- Self-starter who can excel in a fast-paced and fluid environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
