Backend Software Engineer Responsibilities


  • Design core, backend software components.

  • Code using primarily C/C++, Java, PHP and Hack.

  • Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.

  • Conduct design and code reviews.

  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Requires Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and 48 months of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Foreign equivalent accepted. Experience must include 36 months involving the following:

  • 1. Coding in C, C++, Java, or C#

  • 2. Building large-scale infrastructure applications

  • 3. Relational databases and SQL

  • 4. Implementing web interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, or CSS

  • 5. Leveraging frameworks, including React or React Native

  • 6. Conducting design and code reviews

  • 7. Object-oriented software development

  • 8. Building maintainable and testable codes bases including API design and unit testing techniques

  • 9. Multithreading programming and mobile memory management

  • 10. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or 11. Perforce)

  • 11. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript

  • 12. Building highly-scalable performant solutions

  • 13. Distributed systems including sharding, consistency, and availability

  • 14. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting.
