PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To provide quality bakery products that meet the customer needs and ensure a positive shopping experience.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Emphasis in this position is to ensure consistent product quality and quantity to meet daily needs in the bakery department. The primary challenge is to plan, organize and execute daily production. This position requires knowledge of bakery production and product preparation, food safety regulations, on-going customer interaction, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, and math. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction provided by Bakery Manager or person in charge.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Assist customers

- Greet customers

- Answer customer questions; provides product sampling and suggestive selling

- Bring customers to location of item, when needed

- Assist with product replacement and price checks

- Answer bakery telephone calls promptly

- Records cake orders accurately and completely

Occasional: Physical - lifting over 50 lbs., equipment operation (calculator) squatting,

stooping/bending, walking

2. Perform baking and food preparation

- Follow safe food handling and preparation processes

- Follow approved preparation and production guidelines

- Ensure proper product quality, presentation and rotation

- Ensure proper ingredients and consistencies (scales/measures)

- Plan and adjust production sheets in order to consistently maintain adequate department conditions

- Ensure a variety of product is prepared for maximum sales potential

Functional Requirements

Frequent: Physical - lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 20 force pounds,

equipment operation (box cutter, forklift, scraper, mixer, sheeter, bun

rounder, oven, proofer, cooler, bread slicer, shrink wrapper), reaching,

squatting, kneeling, stooping/bending

Mental - memorization, equipment operation (calculator), computer skills, math, reading, writing

Environmental - extended exposure to varied temperatures and wet surfaces

Occasional: Physical - lifting/carrying over 50 lbs., climbing, crawling, and ladders

3. Ensure adequate quantities of product and supplies

- Monitor movement and stock levels to ensure proper ordering

- Place orders as required

4. Stock, rotate and face bakery product

- Pull stales and write down product, quantity and retail

- Rotate product and remove outdated or unfit product

- Assist in wrapping and labeling of bakery product

- Assist with stocking, display building, resets

Frequent: Physical - lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs. to occasional, pushing/pulling to 100 force pounds, equipment operation (bakery rack), walking, reaching

Mental - judgment/decision making, reading, memorization

Environmental - extended exposure to varied temperatures and wet surfaces

Occasional: Physical - pushing/pulling over 50 lbs., equipment operation (shopping cart, cleaning utensils), stooping/bending,

Mental - writing, math

5. Perform clean up of department

- Follow all safety, sanitation and food handling regulation

- Break down clean equipment

- Clean department and maintain conditions in the back room

- Perform department shop back functions

- Clean shelves, racking and cases as needed

- Use personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical resistant gloves) as required

7. Performs other duties as assigned or delegated

Note: *Within each essential functional requirement, "Frequent" represents approximately 15% of the work shift or at least ten repetitions per work shift. "Occasional" represents approximately less than 15% of the work shift or fewer than 10 repetitions per work shift
