The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Bar Admissions Specialist within the Office of Bar Admissions. The successful candidate will process applications for admission to practice law in Ohio, assist bar applicants and the public with bar admission issues, and perform other duties related to licensing attorneys in Ohio.

What you will do:

Assist with administration of the bar examination: order, prepare, and inventory exam materials; prepare examination hall; ensure secure and efficient distribution, collection, and tracking of testing materials at exam; assist with the provision of nonstandard test accommodations to applicants with disabilities.

Receive and review various bar admissions applications and process in accordance with applicable Rules for the Government of the Bar and office policies.

Provide guidance to bar applicants regarding bar admissions procedures and issues.

Coordinate character and fitness investigations of bar applicants by local bar associations and the National Conference of Bar Examiners.

Coordinate grading and reporting of exam results: prepare grading handbooks and materials for bar examiner/reader calibration sessions; enter and proof scores for transfer to exam statistician; prepare and mail score reports, letters, and lists in connection with the announcement of bar exam results; provide copies of test materials to failing applicants consistent with court and board rules; maintain master grading records.

Provide support to the Board of Bar Examiners and the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness: edit and publish exam materials released by the board for publication; prepare board materials and make physical arrangements for board meetings; process reimbursement, travel, and other requests from board members.

Coordinate bar admissions ceremony logistics including preparation, volunteer management, invitations, provisions, speaker coordination, and program publication.

Qualifications
What we're looking for:

Bachelor's or associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

A team-oriented professional able to provide a full range of administrative support with the ability to use independent judgment to organize and prioritize functions.

Excellent data entry skills, customer service skills, good judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.

Demonstrated record of punctuality and dependability.

Strong communication in person, via email, and by in a welcoming, diplomatic, and professional manner.

Someone who can organize responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and demands as needed, meet deadlines and can handle difficult inquiries and situations, both within and outside the Court, tactfully and patiently.
