General Information:

JMU's Facilities Management currently has an open position for a BAS Control Technician Sr. We are looking for someone that can ensure the proper operation of the University's Building Automation Systems by managing, operating, calibrating and installing equipment and devices needed for system operations and interface with other control systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Managing and assisting in installation and calibration of technical electronic and pneumatic controls systems
-Analyzing and diagnosing of controls systems with specialized equipment to obtain data required to identify and correct systems problems
-Installing of hardware and associated wiring to acquire data, control various mechanical systems and ensure proper building environments
-Ordering of specialty and critical parts, maintaining inventory and materials necessary for repair of Building Automation Systems
-Interfacing with vendors and programmers to obtain prices, engineering and application data

Qualifications:

-Considerable experience in maintaining, calibrating and repairing electronic and pneumatic controls
-Knowledge of Building Automation Systems fundamentals
-Knowledge of controls installation, setup and wiring
-Extensive HVAC knowledge
-General knowledge of building codes
-Knowledge of controls hardware and software relationships
-Ability to operate a variety of complex diagnostic equipment
-Ability to logically diagnose and troubleshoot controls problems
-Having basic computer literacy with the ability to navigate in Windows
-Ability to read and understand blueprints
-Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
-Experienced with providing excellent customer service and having the ability to relate positively with customers
-Having the availably to temporarily work another shift if needed based on business needs and fulfill obligations with the required rotating on call responsibilities
