General Responsibilities:

As an intern in our Construction Division you will be responsible for several components on all phases of a project. Initially you'll search out projects to bid, compile information and present to Project Management and Estimating teams providing your research support and advice on building the estimate. Once the job is awarded you'll be a part of several phases. Preconstruction, the liaison between field and office staff as the project progresses, and at job completion working through any punch list/change order, close out and billing.

  • Assist office staff in their day to day work including administrative tasks, helping with scheduling, budgeting and execution of current projects, creating, modeling and reviewing data using computer applications, data mining of historical documents, and other project related tasks.
  • Assist field staff with schedules; coordinate with foreman and field personnel with daily schedules including materials, subcontractors, equipment, quality control, etc.
  • Work with Project Managers, Estimators, Superintendents, and project team with preconstruction efforts.
  • Coordinating with superintendents and foreman to ensure project goals and expectations are met.
  • Assist with project planning to include project definition, scope, resources, and schedule.
  • Assist with baseline schedule from the job estimate.
  • Interpretation of field data for incorporation in site designs and recommendations.
  • Additionally you'll be responsible for learning and documenting proper procedures, and any other responsibilities and goals as defined by the position supervisor.
Qualifications and Other:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License
  • Strong computer skills in the complete MS Suite
  • Strong Math and English Skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ideally you'll be in process toward earning a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, with a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate coursework specific to underground construction and tunneling
  • Knowledge of tunneling methods, soil stabilization, rock support, etc. is a valuable add
  • Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders
  • Housing is not provided
