Job Description: Behavior Interventionist (K-6th Grades)

REPORTS TO : Assistant Superintendent

FLSA STATUS : Exempt

TERMS : 187 Days

EVALUATION : State and/or Local Evaluation Protocol

JOB GOAL :

• To assist school personnel in developing and implementing effective programs and interventions that support the long term placement of students in alternative school settings.
• To assist the system behavior specialist with meeting the identified behavioral needs of K-6th grade students when there is no long term placement of students in the alternative school setting.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• A valid Alabama teaching certificate in Elementary Education; other college coursework in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with students with behavioral concerns.
• Experience in implementing effective behavior plans and/or interventions.
• Willingness and ability to work additional time if needed to meet crises and deadlines.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
• Physical strength, stamina, agility and acuity to perform job responsibilities and essential functions.
• Punctuality and regular attendance.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Participates in ongoing professional development designed to enhance best practices that support the needs of the whole child.
