Behavior Specialist, IDD

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Special Education or a related field AND a minimum of two years of experience with developing and implementing Behavior Support Plans
• Experience working with adults with IDD and with mental health diagnosis or Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to support individuals with behavioral challenges required. Competency in writing supports plans, conducting assessments and effective verbal communication skills required. Capacity to train and mentor others needed. Ability to perform duties with limited supervision. Flexibility in scheduling and availability for onsite support.

Earn: $26.47/hour

The Behavior Specialist is responsible for:

• Providing face-to-face behavioral support to adults with autism in their homes and community settings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
  • 1 on 1 behavioral observation and assessments, develops strategies based on assessments, writes personalized Behavior Support Plans, and trains and mentors the support team as needed under the clinical supervision of a person with a master's degree in human services or a related field.
• Operational supervision is provided by the IDD Director.

This Behavior Specialist is responsible for effective and appropriate development, facilitation, and documentation of Behavior Support Plans, according to the person's Individual Support Plan.
