About the opportunity:

This position works collaboratively with Behavioral Health leadership, psychiatrists, physicians, unit leaders and staff, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure operations of the Precourt Healing Center run according to policy/regulations and align with Behavioral Health's and Vail Health's mission, vision, and values. Responsibilities include being a resource for staff; monitoring for and driving compliance to standards; managing hospital resources in a manner that maintains stewardship and safety; participating and providing leadership in emergent/crisis situations; escalating issues as needed to department or senior leadership; ensuring safe, compliant, and coordinated transfer of all patients in or out of the facility; completing necessary follow-up and documentation for all occurrences; and promoting customer service and patient satisfaction. The ability to effectively communicate, collaborate with team members, and maintain professionalism are key qualities for success in this role.

What you will do:
  1. Manages resources in a manner that promotes patient safety, staff well-being, and fiscal responsibility. Ensures appropriate staffing levels, avoiding overtime and promoting staff breaks in accordance with labor laws. Ensures availability of necessary supplies, limiting waste.
  2. Makes staff assignments. Manages patient, physician, and staff expectations by proactively communicating.
  3. Coordinates transfers to and from outside facilities, ensuring adequate hand-off, coordination of care, and compliance with Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations.
  4. Collaborates with hospital quality department and department leadership to facilitate, educate, and monitor for compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policy, documentation requirements, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  5. Responds to hospital emergencies/crises and ensures appropriate documentation of event including debrief summary. Provides follow-up and completion of all tasks and documentation related to a crisis or occurrence.
  6. Participates in the interviewing, monitoring, coaching, precepting, evaluating, and disciplining processes. Coaches in private and commends in public. Works in a respectful and patient manner, recognizing that others may contribute to the team differently.
  7. Answers call lights and provides clinical assistance as needed; meets with patients or family members upon request or via rounding to ensure patient satisfaction with care; provides service recovery as needed through collaboration with Patient Advocate.
  8. Follows chain-of-command and escalates issues to department or senior leadership as appropriate.
  9. Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:

Experience:
  • Five years clinical nursing experience required.
  • Two years leadership experience preferred.
  • Two years of inpatient behavioral health experience preferred.

License(s):
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.

Certification(s):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Education:

  • Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:

$45.49 — $74.78 USD
