As a Bid and Project Manager in our Grid Consulting business, the day begins with a thorough review of project updates to stay informed on the latest developments and client communications. This is followed by a morning briefing with the international project team to discuss the status of ongoing projects, address any technical challenges, and prioritize tasks for the day.

A significant part of the morning may also involve direct communication with clients, particularly discussing new project proposals and clarifying their requirements and expectations. This ensures that all project deliverables are aligned with client needs and adhere to the highest standards.

Post-lunch, the focus shifts to coordinating and refining proposals for upcoming projects. This involves collaborating closely with the global team of expert consultants to ensure that both the technical and financial aspects of the bid are well-crafted and competitive. Concurrently, overseeing critical power system studies is essential, ensuring that all analyses are conducted accurately and efficiently.

Strategic planning sessions with senior management may also be part of the day, focusing on long-term project strategies, resource planning, and potential process improvements. These discussions are vital for aligning project goals with broader company objectives and market opportunities.

The day concludes with a final review of the day's achievements and preparation for the next day's activities. This includes setting up tasks, updating the team and clients on progress, and ensuring that all project components are on track for success.

Overall, the role of a Bid and Project Manager is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring a balance of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication to successfully lead large power system consulting projects and coordinate the writing of offers.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Bid and Project Manager you
  • Lead and manage large-scale power system consulting projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, ensuring they meet client specifications and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining effective communication and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including consulting, engineering, finance, and legal departments, to align project objectives and strategies.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulations to enhance service offerings and maintain competitive edge.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in power system studies, e.g. load flow, short circuit, dynamic and transient stability, harmonics analysis, subsynchronous control interactions,..
  • 5 or more years of experience in project management within the power systems or energy sector. *Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
  • Strong knowledge of power system modeling software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large-scale projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Experience in writing and coordinating technical proposals and bids for power system projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in power systems engineering.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed, up to 20%.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
