JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for completing full and individual evaluations and reevaluations of students to recommend the existence of disability conditions and the need for special education services to the ARD Committee. Provides written reports and interprets test results for students, parents and school staff. Provides consultation to school staff regarding implementation of IEPs for students. Facilitates ARD meetings and completes required ARD paperwork. Communicates with campus staff and parents before and after ARD Committee meetings in ARD preparation/follow up activities.

- The campus diagnostician understands and applies knowledge of the purpose, philosophy and legal foundations of evaluation and special education.
- The campus diagnostician understands and applies knowledge of ethical and professional practices, roles and responsibilities.
- The campus diagnostician develops collaborative relationships with families, educators, the school, the community, outside agencies and related service personnel.
- The campus diagnostician understands and applies knowledge of student assessment and evaluation, program planning and instructional decision making.
- The campus diagnostician knows eligibility criteria and procedures for identifying students with disabilities and determining the presence of an educational need.
- The campus diagnostician assists selection, administration and interpretation of appropriate assessments.
- The campus diagnostician understands and applies knowledge of ethnic, linguistic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity and the significance of student diversity for evaluation, planning and instruction.
- The campus diagnostician knows and understands appropriate curricula and instructional strategies for individuals with disabilities.
- Regular attendance.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3 years of teaching experience
- 2 years of experience as an Educational Diagnostician
Education/Certification:
- Master's degree in Education or Special Education
- Educational Diagnostician Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of public laws and district procedures regarding special education students and programs
- Knowledge of administration and interpretation of appropriate evaluation instruments
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Maintaining 2-way communications between various stakeholders
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement staff development
- Bilingual in Spanish
