Billing and Insurance Collections Specialist / Full-time, Days, Mon - Fri 8AM - 4:30PM

The Insurance Collection Specialist III is responsible for many areas of the Business Office including, but not limited to, managed care refunds, charge maser maintenance, and customer service responses. The Insurance Collection Specialist III should have 10+ years of experience in business office collection and billing, as the position also serves as a backup biller. The right candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of managed care and government insurance collections and billing, with a comprehensive understanding of hospital billing to include coding, CPT assignment, HCPC assignment for implants, etc. Experience working with patients and coworkers in all aspects of the hospital business office roles and responsibilities is a must.

The right candidate for the position will be a self-driven, goal-oriented individual that is interested in being a part of a team. The position is a highly visible position with expectations of using all resources available. Ten plus years of hospital-based insurance collections and billing experience is preferred, along with preferential consideration for experience working with Meditech. Contract exposure is required. Medicare and Medicaid claims knowledge is a requirement.

Responsibilities include reviewing and following up on self pay and insurance accounts, managing credit balances and CDM management. Additional duties include, but not limited to working correspondence, performing quality checks and providing expertise and guidance to team members.

Required Skills:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have skills necessary to operate the office equipment required to fulfill job.
  • 10+ years experience in hospital insurance collections processing commercial and managed care claims preferred.
  • Computer knowledge, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, required.
  • Experience working with Meditech strongly preferred.
  • Good communication skills essential.
  • Responds to telephone and on-site inquiries from patient in a courteous, timely, and informative manner.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Work comp (Subscriber and non-subscriber) knowledge beneficial.
