Job Summary:

The Department of Dermatology seeks new faculty members who will strengthen the department's work in precision dermatology by complementing the research, teaching, and service efforts of existing faculty and connect with our school's Department of Dermatology. The ideal faculty recruited through this search will bring distinct dry-lab methodological strategies to bear on common problem dermatologic diseases. We expect such faculty may have expertise in population genetics or computational biology.

We expect this recruit's experience will be strengthened by connections to the Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI). DBMI is home to approximately 30 tenure-track faculty who use approaches of population genetics, genome-scale biology, multiscale modeling, mathematical physiology, simulation, machine learning, knowledge engineering, human-computer interaction, data integration, or mathematical and predictive analytics to marry disparate but related aspects of the campus's clinical and research portfolios to advance knowledge and improve healthcare. The department's faculty are committed to creating inclusive research environments and deploying algorithms that advance equity and reduce healthcare disparities.

Key Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and lead an independent research program
  • Develop and apply novel computational methods
  • Develop, apply, translate into practice, and evaluate computational systems to improve dermatologic care delivery
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the translational community to obtain external funding and publish high-impact manuscripts
  • Mentor pre- and post-doctoral trainees

The Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine houses the region's largest Biobank. Genetic data from approximately 100,000 participants is available for research. The campus has invested significantly in an enterprise health data warehouse collecting electronic health record data from 15 hospitals and dozens of clinics for research. This warehouse integrates electronic health record data for 1.7 million active patients from 12-member hospitals, more than 800 clinics, and state public health databases for research.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Genetics, Genomics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field OR MD/DO plus graduate degree in an appropriate technical field
  • Accomplishments and publications in research areas spanning the boundary between the biomedical sciences and the computational sciences.
  • Evidence of completed projects, developed software, tools, and systems.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-doctoral experience in biomedical informatics

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$145,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
