Apex Systems is seeking an experienced Data Standards and Ontology Specialist to become a pivotal member of our Computational Sciences group, driving innovation in data modeling and ontology development to support groundbreaking research in biotechnology.
Key Responsibilities:

• Craft and refine ontologies, terminologies, and data models for R&D domains.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define new data standards and models.
• Engage in data governance, ensuring data accessibility, quality, and integrity.
• Communicate best practices and contribute to informatics solutions.

Essential Expertise:

• Proficient in data standards, semantics, terminologies, ontologies, and best practices for data governance.
• Experience with biomedical data and public biomedical ontologies.
• Familiarity with Semantic Technologies or RDF vocabularies to describe terminological knowledge (such as SKOS, SKOS-XL, Dublin Core, RDFS).

Desired Experience:

• Proficiency with JSON, SPARQL, semantic models, and cloud technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of R&D processes and scientific data management.
• Familiarity with a scripting language such as Perl or Python, Statistical software packages such as R or SAS, or relational databases and SQL.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience -OR - Master's/PhD with 5+ years.
• A scientific discipline background is required, with an advanced degree being advantageous.
