Piper Companies is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET 3) to join a client that is a large, non-profit, tertiary, and academic medical center located in Princeton, New Jersey. This is a 6 month contract to hire. Full time. 5 days on site. Flexible when needed, but expectation is full time, 5 days per week.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains, repairs and calibrates biomedical and patient care medical devices.
• Technical support for low, medium and high risk equipment.
• Follows Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) or Alternative Equipment Maintenance (AEM) recommendations.
• Performs quality assurance inspections in accordance with codes, standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Technical training and mentorship to junior Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMET) concerning patient care medical devices.
• Assists with training of clinical personnel on user operation and maintenance of equipment, as needed.
• Assists with equipment planning and pre-purchase evaluations of new equipment.
• Assists with the acceptance inspections, the relocation of existing, and with the installation of new equipment when required.
• Collaborates with Information Services to ensure Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance and connectivity of biomedical devices.
• Understands and complies with Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations.

Requirements:

• 5-10 years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining electromechanical systems, Clinical Engineering/BMET, and field experience.
• Understanding of medical PCs, peripherals, medical network hardware, clinical network applications and cybersecurity.
• Expertise in the field of biomedical equipment repair, OEM training preferred.
• AAMI certification preferred.
• Knowledge of diagnostic tools, test equipment and software, where applicable.
• Experience working with medical hardware, software and equipment products.
• Understand medical device usage within a health system environment.
• Knowledge of healthcare operations and the use of medical technology in the practicing.

Compensation / Benefits:

• $35 - $42 / hour.
• Contract to hire.
