Description of Project The State of Minnesota seeks the services of a Tableau developer. The successful Developer must be able to develop reports, create internal dashboards, and publish to the state's Adult Protection Dashboard / Minnesota Department of Human Services (mn.gov). The resource will provide connections to new and existing data sources, prepare data for use in Tableau, develop extracts, publish data sources and workbooks, develop custom scripts, coordinate releases of data and workbooks, as well as perform complex technical tasks such as integration with data sources. This position will perform analysis and development duties on the VA Data Mart and Output will include options for presentation and print, interactive dashboards, infographics, data extracts, provide filter options, trends over the period as needed and tabs options on dashboards as needed. The resource is expected to work remotely. Resources must be available for forty (40) hour work weeks except for State holidays or other exceptions that DHS approves or that the response identifies. DHS may expect resources to work up to fifty (50) hours per week depending on project volume. The State anticipates that in order to perform the work, the resource will be able to access information about individuals that contains data that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act classifies as "protected health information" and that Minnesota law classifies as "not-public data." The State will therefore require the vendor to sign the business associate agreement attached as a prerequisite. Resource Need This request is for 1 full time staff augmentation resource. Mode of Interview The State will conduct interviews. The State reserves the right to remove a resource from consideration if the resource is unavailable for interview as requested by the State. Project Schedule Anticipated Project Start Date: 9/5/2022 Anticipated End Date: 1/31/2023 The State will retain the option to extend the work orders in increments determined by the State. The Tableau Developer will work with business partner to develop and modify reports and dashboards, provide connections to new and existing data sources, prepare data for use in Tableau, develop extracts, publish data sources and workbooks, develop custom scripts, coordinate releases of data and workbooks, as well as perform complex technical tasks such as integration with data sources. Sample Tasks • Elicit business requirements to address the customer's data visualization needs • Collect and analyze data through manual and automated collection methods • Create visualizations for the data extracted using Tableau • Identify patterns and meaningful insights from data through analysis • Analyze large data sets and translate abstract data into easily digestible visualizations • Design Dashboards and workbooks • Manage Tableau Server and/or connections to Tableau Server • Modifying SQL queries to improve performance • Automate key areas of business processes to improve efficiencies • Develop reference documents or reports for the finalized project Minimum Qualifications • Tableau Certification as Tableau Desktop Certified Professional or Server Certified Professional • Five (5) years' experience in Tableau Developer role • Two (2) engagements lasting more than six (6) months in Tableau Developer role Desired Skills • In-depth knowledge and a sound understanding of Tableau, SQL, Business Intelligence, and data analytics • Proficiency in analytics and database querying tools • Extensive experience in developing and managing dashboards and reports in Tableau • Knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, data mapping, data analysis, and data visualization • Technical knowledge of Tableau Products and versions including Tableau Server, Tableau Public, Tableau Online, Tableau Desktop, and so on • Able to build visually-stunning and interactive dashboards • Able to manipulate and blend data in order to design dashboards and visualization • Knowledge of data migration, Tableau integration, and extensions
