Description

  • Conduct functional behavior and reinforcement preference assessments through reviewing records, classroom observations, and interviewing administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and others involved with the student.
  • Create detailed reports documenting assessment results and discuss recommendations with administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and

    other stakeholders to support student needs.
  • Design data sheets and implement data collection methods that minimally intrude on teachers' time, ensuring efficient tracking of student progress.
  • Monitor the implementation of behavior intervention plans, analyze outcomes, and provide feedback and revisions as necessary to support student development.
  • Develop and lead training sessions for central staff, parents, campus staff, and administrators on positive behavior interventions, supports, special education laws, and available district/community resources to better serve students.
  • Consult with teachers, central and campus staff, parents, and administrators to model and implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques in school and/or home settings, directly benefiting student behavior and learning.
  • Provide in-home training to parents as specified in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure consistent support across environments.
  • Work directly with students as assigned by the Director of Specialized Programs to address individual behavioral and educational needs.
  • Participate in critical Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and Texas Education Agency (TEA) resolution hearings to address behavior concerns, deescalate situations, provide coaching to campus administrators, and collaborate on

    olutions that prioritize student well-being.
  • Collaborate with families, campus staff, administrators, community agencies, and other stakeholders to offer guidance on special education laws and policies, ensuring comprehensive support for students.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and local board policies in assessment, placement, and planning for special education services to uphold student rights and support.
  • Maintain required documentation to record support activities, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Stay current with trends in evidence-based interventions, behavior and mental health, community resources, ethics, and special education laws to continually enhance the quality of support provided to students.
  • Engage in professional behaviors reflecting integrity, accountability, and high moral standards to create a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and youth in a special education setting; experience in an urban

    chool setting and/or in a multicultural education environment preferred.
  • Evidence of a deep understanding and application of knowledge of applied behavior sciences.
  • Keep and compile records and develop detailed evaluation reports, findings, and

    recommendations.
  • Maintain and establish effective working relationships with parents and district employees.
  • Knowledge of special education principles, theories, and laws (federal and state).
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve logistical and operational problems; make data driven decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with evidence-based interventions.
