General Information:

The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is seeking a Boiler Operator / Controls Technician for a Centralized Steam Generation/Chill Water Production Plant. Applicants must be available to work all shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Maintenance, repairing, inspecting and rebuilding of Power Plant steam generating, mechanical and related equipment
•Inspecting, repairing and maintenance of steam distribution systems
•Providing of technical support for all control devices within the plant

Qualifications:

•Knowledge of all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to power plant equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, VFD's, valves, controls, 3 phase electric motors and steam distribution systems
•Working knowledge of applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures
•Ability to perform simple record keeping task
•Skilled with the use of hand and power tools
•Ability to set up, configure, tune and troubleshoot control devices
•Experienced with maintaining and repairing power plant and/or related equipment
•Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical issues
•Ability to read and interpret gauges, recorders and monitoring equipment
