Summary
This position is located within Commander, Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program. The purpose of this position is to assist the higher graded mechanics in the maintaining and repairing all bowling facility electrical, mechanical and computerized equipment. This position is located at JEBLC GATOR BOWL.

Duties
Installs, repairs, maintains, adjusts, overhauls and regularly inspects all bowling facility electrical, mechanical and computerized equipment which includes, but is not limited to: automatic pinsetters, automatic ball returns, speed cradle stops, telescore units, automatic ball cleaners, lane maintenance machines, hole borers, and etc. Establishes a regular preventive maintenance schedule according to the suggested manufacturer's recommendations, adjusting as necessary.
Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment referring to manufacturer's diagrams and specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams using test equipment such as continuity testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and feeler gauges. Disassembles and replaces or repairs mechanical and electrical components or parts using soldering irons, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and other hand tools. Cleans and lubricates machines. Measures and regulates sweep of rake on automatic pinsetters using hand tools and gauges. Runs automatic pinsetter through complete cycle and inspects for pin setting accuracy.
Inspects bowling lanes and approaches daily. Ensures they are prepared in accordance with appropriate technical manuals. Conditions, maintains and repairs bowling pins and lanes, repairing cracks, chips and splinters using wood and plastic lane stock, sanding and recoating surfaces. Performs regularly scheduled weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance services required . Maintains, rotates, restores, patches and cleans bowling pins and recommends replacement as necessary.
Oversees the work of one or more lower graded workers engaged in minor repair, cleaning or lubricating equipment, keeping them informed of any operation and maintenance changes. Conducts on-the-job training for mechanic trainees and bowling equipment workers.
Maintains required records and reports . Orders pa1ts and maintains recommended stock levels for parts necessary on all equipment. Ensures that parts are charged against proper machine and spare parts inventory is accurately maintained . Keeps supervisor advised of maintenance problems and cost factors. Prepares and submits reports of parts used, cost, machines serviced and reasons for any variance in usual operations.
Conducts daily fire and safety inspections. Ensures all flammables and hazardous materials are handled under approved conditions and properly stored to guard against fire and safety hazards.
As assigned, performs safety officer duties, immediately reporting any hazards, improperly working safety equipment, or failure to use safety equipment by any staff member to the supervisor. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly state.

A qualified candidate must possess:
Must possess knowdedge of mechanical and electrical/electronic principles and operating characteristics of bowling equipment and have the ability to locate malfunctions through visual, operational, audio and standard test equipment checks. Must have knowledge of parts, components and assemblies of bowling equipment. Successful completion of AMF mechanic course is strongly preferred, but not required. Must have the ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams and manufacturer's service manuals. Must possess good communication skills to train and oversee lower graded maintenance employees. Must possess the following experience for the noted levels:
