About this Role:
The Medical Program Consultant (MPC) will be responsible for assisting the Division Chief with carrying out Clinical Assurance Division (CAD)'s mission to provide quality clinical oversight resulting in appropriate and cost-effective care for Medi-Cal members. This will include leading the Division Operations Branch (DOB) as its Branch Chief; assisting CAD management with the evaluation of post-payment reviews and Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) processes, including TAR submission and adjudication; and overseeing development of policies and procedures that support consistent adjudication throughout the organization. Additionally, the MPC will oversee the Medi-Cal managed care state fair hearing (SFH) and Medical Exemption Request (MER) process, review complex clinical requests, and provide clinical expertise in interpreting state and federal policy for Medicaid-funded programs and services.

Telework Information
The DHCS standard for hybrid work is a minimum of two days per week in- person and site-based and up to three teleworking days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department's operational business needs and subject to change consistent with DHCS' Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 - 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
