The School Medicine is seeking applicants for Budget Analyst or Senior Budget Analyst. This position will assist in preparation and submission of School of Medicine annual budget and multi-year financial plan to the University Budget Office and the Health System. As a key member of the budget team, this position plays a central role in the development of the annual budget and multi-year financial plans, and other budgetary projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in preparation of School of Medicine budget, reviewing revenues and expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary guidance from the University Budget Office and the Health System.
  • Compile and extract data from Anaplan for use in budget and multi-year plan submissions to the University budget system (Adaptive).
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the Workday Accounting Structure of the University and the UFM Fund Accounting Structure.
  • Develop an in-depth working knowledge of Anaplan budget models.
  • Develop reports and prepare spreadsheets using software such as Anaplan and Excel.
  • Provide reliable analytical support, as needed, using Excel, Anaplan, and other tools.
  • Analyze and understand budgetary changes and trends and the associated drivers.
  • Respond to budgetary questions from the Budget Office and Provost teams in a timely manner.
  • Recommend and assist with changes to systems and data compilation to ensure conformance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

*Qualified candidates will be considered for the following positions:

Budget Analyst

Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: Two years of experience in a related field . Six years of progressive, relevant experience in the field of budget analysis, financial planning, or a closely related area may be considered in lieu of degree.

Senior Budget Analyst
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Four years of experience in a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and reporting skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail skills is required.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members on projects and processes in essential.
  • A bility to build relationships and develop internal and external partnerships is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) is required.
  • Ability to query, run reports, and use databases systems, as well as knowledge and experience in applying data analytics.
  • Knowledge of UVA systems, including Workday, Adaptive, and/or UBI (Qlik) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Anaplan is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
