3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; Monday - Friday with 'on-call' designation.

This position is designated as 'essential' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
Provide our residential students, visiting faculty, guests, and conference participants with the safest and cleanest environment possible. The housekeeping position is responsible for maintaining and assisting in the maintenance of buildings which complements the environmental impact upon student development goals of the department.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties
  • Understands and complies with University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements. Practices appropriate physical and safety techniques; use proper safety gear and equipment. Reads safety manuals. Ensures equipment is properly maintained. Attends training and receives proper information pertaining to equipment, safety and/or emergency procedures, and accident reporting. Understands appropriate action to correct hazards. Reports and responds to accidents appropriately and in a timely manner. Is alert to potentially dangerous situations or conditions; report to supervisor when something needs further attention. Reports any conditions which need maintenance attention. Ensures proper mixing and/or diluting of chemicals according to original labels. Ensures chemicals are labeled and environmentally safe. Ensures safe storage of chemicals. Reports outdated or improperly stored chemicals.



  • Communicates with management to obtain understanding of the organization's objectives. Assists co- workers to even out workloads during peak periods; assists co-workers when workload is not as heavy as that of others. Represents the department positively when interacting or in close proximity with students; is sensitive to diversity issues and demonstrates appropriate interpersonal behavior.

  • Respectfully identifies, listens, and responds to customer needs in assigned work areas. Works in areas with students on a daily basis. Respectful of students' privacy and belongings. Develop strong relations with residents to minimize damage and increase students' respect for environment. Builds and sustains productive customer relationships. Provides courteous and patient service to allow residents to be content in living areas. Makes customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions. Demonstrates ability to adapt schedule to customers' needs.

  • Physical activities include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and visual acuity.

  • Experience working in a college/University setting.
