Position Summary:

The Libraries physical spaces consist of the Langson Library, the Science Library, the Library Gateway Study Center, and the Grunigen Medical Library.

The incumbent will perform unskilled building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis in all library buildings. These duties include but are not limited to lifting and carrying heavy items, assemble and disassemble of various office-related furnitures, changing light bulbs, general electrical and plumbing repair, painting and repair of interior walls, assisting in the mail room, executing minor facilities projects and moves, and other duties as assigned.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $20.40 - $26.93 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $20.40 - $26.93 (Hourly Rate).

Required:

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations; and demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and other patrons of the Library.
• Works quietly, dependably, and in a responsible and timely manner.
• Experience following oral and written instructions, and instructions conveyed online work order system.
• Ability to recognize and respond positively to areas in need of corrective action.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds (i.e. desks, tables, bookcases, trash receptacles, boxes, crates, etc.).
• Ability to climb and work from a ladder, at heights of up to twenty feet.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to supervise student workers who perform a variety of tasks assisting with mail, relocate collection materials, and help with daily vacuuming of the books and shelves.
• Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus. General experience of skills to prepare surfaces for painting materials.
• General experience of skills to perform minor interior carpentry projects including installation of white board, picture frames, flat screen mounts and keyboard trays, furniture repairs, and/or installation of seismic bracing.
• General experience of skills to repair and replace electrical components.

Special Conditions Required:

A valid California Driver's License, having a clean California DMV record. A DMV DOT will also be pulled.

Hours 7am - 3:30 pm, M-F.
