This is a 10 month, 4.75 hour/day position. Hours are split shift. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Transportation, or an assigned administrator, ride a school bus and provide safe and secure transportation for students with physical, medical, educational, and behavioral needs; assist drivers in the loading, unloading, and securing handicapped students.

Open/Promotional Examinations: Open and Promotional examinations are open to qualified employees and nonemployees alike. All promotional candidates who successfully complete the examination process are placed on a promotional eligibility list. which must be used first in filling the vacancy(ies). If this list contains fewer than 3 ranks, it is then supplemented by names from the open eligibility list.

Applicants are responsible for checking email and responding promptly (within 24 hours).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the essential job functions is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be graduation from high school and sufficient training or experience to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed in the attached job description. Successful completion of the Merit examination process is required.

Licenses and other requirements: A valid California driver's license is desired to travel between sites. First aid and CPR training may be required prior to completion of probationary period.

EMPLOYMENT & SELECTION PROCEDURE
All permanent classified positions are filled from eligibility lists which are created through the examination process. All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list. When a vacancy occurs, applicants in the top three available ranks from the appropriate list shall be scheduled for an interview. Applicants not selected shall remain on the eligibility list until they decline three job interviews, ask to be removed from the list, are hired, or until the list expires. List of viable candidates are retained for one year, unless the list is exhausted prior to the expiration date. Valid lists contain the names of candidates ready, willing, and able to accept employment, if offered.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Employment Verification: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, the District must verify that all new employees, at the time of hire, have proof of their right to work in the United States.
Fingerprinting: State law requires that all employees be fingerprinted. AB1610 prohibits employment until the Department of Justice completes its obligations regarding the arrest and conviction information; and, from employing a person who has been convicted of a violent or serious felony, as defined. Prospective employees are responsible for paying their own fingerprinting fees.
Probationary Period: Successful completion of a 130-day or six-month (250 days or one year for management) probationary period is required before appointment to permanent status.
Health Benefits Eligibility Requirements: An employee is required to work at least 826 or more regular working hours from July 1 through June 30 in order to receive an employer contribution towards health benefits. Benefits begin the first of the month following your appointment date. Full time employees that receive the full district contribution must enroll in a medical plan.
Pre-placement Examination: All persons selected must pass a tuberculosis test and, for some jobs, must pass a preplacement medical examination given by a district appointed physician.
