This position exists to lead, coordinate, support and provide guidance and training for centralized business applications shared across the department.

Working as a Business Applications Specialist, you will:
  • Develop and manage standard operating procedures, build, and implement standards, advise governance bodies, and manage shared applications assigned.
  • Recommend and build solutions and improvements to business application use standards, support effective governance, and increase value and user adoption gained for available software tools.
  • Collaborate with the State of Minnesota's IT services (MNIT) to identify and support and bring in new, meaningful, and value-adding technologies to MDH.
  • Assist with special projects to optimize employee use of shared service applications.
  • Participate with HR on development of training curriculum.

This position will have the option of teleworking; however, it will be based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

Two (2) years of experience working in IT area with centralized business applications. This experience must include at least two of the following:
  • Previous responsibility of SharePoint ownership.
  • Experience writing instructions of applications for end users.
  • Experience working as an administrator of an organization's business application.
  • Expert in use of Microsoft applications and data analytics tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Experience in building communities of practice, building guidance and governances for various technologies, facilitating user communities, and building and providing training on the technologies supported.

Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:
  • Ability to communicate clearly, with highly developed written and oral skills.
  • Ability to be flexible in order to resolve problems and deliver strong customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and build user adoption for these new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience writing policies, procedures, or job aides.
  • Previous experience using SharePoint, Blueworks Live, Absorb, Power Automate, or M365 tools.
  • Skills for data analysis and interpretation of data sufficient to identify operations and organizational impacts.
