Position Aim:

Provides leadership for program (or region) business development aspects (with the exception of FAA certificate related operational control). Leads marketing of an integrated transport program from an 'ownership' (not 'renter') mindset and accepts responsibility and accountability for such.

Reports to: Program Director or Regional Business Director

Collaborates with: Variable, depends on project/ portfolio, but examples include safety, communications, aviation, business development /marketing, education/quality, revenue cycle, regulatory agencies and internal and external customers and partners

Shared Governance
  • Ensures regular outreach committee activity in conjunction with base and program leadership
  • Coordinates program outreach and patient follow-up activities
  • Encourages staff participation in outreach and marketing efforts as applicable


Expense Management and Financial responsibilities
  • Develops and proposes operating expenditure plans to support marketing needs for the program.
  • Monitors operational budget for marketing supplies and participates in evaluation of effectiveness of marketing and outreach supplies, strategies and efforts
  • Oversees inventory of promotional supplies and spending in compliance with operating budget.
  • Assists regional and program management with actively pursuing additional means for increased profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities and utilizing innovative growth strategies to create new revenue streams
  • Demonstrates fiduciary responsibility with Med-Trans assets, corporate credit cards, etc.


Communication, Marketing, Outreach and Strategies
  • Functions as program public information officer (PIO) in conjunction with corporate PIO and company and program leadership.
  • Clearly communicates the mission and vision statements of both the company and program(s) to ensure continuity between staff, business partners, media and the community-at-large
  • Maintains key customer relationships and develops and implements strategies for expanding the company's customer base
  • Strengthens existing relationships with EMS/Fire agencies, Hospital personnel and key stakeholders exploring specific needs while recognizing, researching and acting upon new growth prospects
  • Develops and delivers the strategic direction for program's business development, marketing and communication, appropriate to the needs and responsive to our key stakeholders and growth opportunities, in close collaboration with program manager; aligns the strategy within the Med-Trans organization and in relationship to affiliated AMGH programs and EMS partners, seeking to maximize effectiveness through collaboration and referrals.
  • Develops, implements, and leads the annual marketing plan for program (s); Seek effective means to improve program marketability by maintaining program image and managing brand development.
  • Manages overall sales process to increase year-over-year flight requests.
  • Manages preferred provider agreement negotiations in conjunction with program manager and legal counsel as required.
  • Maintains awareness of industry related events, publications, and announcements
  • Maintains awareness of neighboring programs or related services and their impact on company, program (or region); ensure appropriate leaders area adequately briefed.
  • Manages digital and social media aspects of program (or region) such as content for web site, public speaking, events and presentations
  • Attends appropriate tradeshows and conduct them in a professional manner as a representative of Med-Trans and the partnering health organization or flight program.
  • Works collaboratively with partnering health organization's outreach and business development leader to harmonize on messages being delivered to the referral area.
  • May coordinate and conduct speaker and educational events on behalf of flight program to improve visibility of program and add value to customers served. May assist with the development of other programs courses, and community medical education presentations.


Data and Decision support
  • Gathers, analyzes and summarizes applicable data and trends (for example, referral patterns and request and transport volumes) to focus and adjust marketing approach
  • Maintains awareness of appropriate program (s) or regional referral patterns, practice behaviors, customer preferences and similar data elements in order to align program with demand
  • Maintain confidentiality of information deemed sensitive

Requirements and preferences
  • Minimum 3 years Marketing, public relations, business development or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrates understanding and abilities for operational effectiveness, fiscal management, data analysis, budgeting, risk management, relationship management, strategic planning, marketing and communications, regulatory implications, project management and political savvy.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with internal and external constituents
  • College education (or equivalent); bachelor's degree preferred
  • Leadership experience; sales management preferred
  • Prior marketing, sales or operational experience in an aviation, transport medicine or medical-related field preferred


Working Hours
  • Salaried; Flexible working hours, evenings or weekends may be required for planned and unplanned activities
