Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing new business opportunities and managing relationships with clients. The market concentrations include Life Science, Higher Education, K-12, Mixed-Use High Rise, Healthcare, Cultural, Public, and/or Industrial sectors within the Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill areas. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, innovative, and an experienced (7-10+ years) business development professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Possess an established network within the greater Raleigh-Durham Construction community amongst Owners, Design Consultants and Brokers/Owners Representatives.
  • Continuously evaluate target geography/market sectors and potential projects to stay up to date on trends and opportunities for growth
  • Manage an opportunity pipeline that is both broad in scope across market sectors and matches the value proposition of Consigli Construction
  • Will support the team in identifying qualified opportunities through the development of strategic relationships with architects, owners, and owner representatives
  • Gain an understanding of Account Plan strategies for key clients using knowledge of market, competitors and client’s needs at the local and company-wide levels.
  • Facilitate the "Go/No Go" analysis decision through a firm understanding of the opportunity value and fit for the Consigli CM model
  • In partnership with the Director of Project Development, manage the proposal process and determine the correct resources and timing of deliverables to keep the proposal on track.
  • In partnership with operational leads, prepare interview team for a successful interview experience
  • Participate in industry organizations and Trade Shows towards extending the Consigli brand and growing a network of contacts and potential clients
  • Actively manage and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to reflect the status of opportunities within the sales pursuit life-cycle and actions needed to win work
  • Maintain memberships in professional organizations and attend industry events


Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Business Development experience (prefer 5+/- years) in the construction (or related) industry with a successful track record of building relationships.
  • Proven ability to establish profitable relationships with decision makers at companies and organizations.
  • Outstanding presentation and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed
