Description

Job Summary

The overall purpose of this position is to design, develop, maintain, and support complex business intelligence applications and solutions to meet the needs of our Operating Units (OUs) customers.

Analyzes business intelligence needs and requirements and provides analysis, designs, and reporting development in response. Tests reporting solutions for functionality and integrity; troubleshoots and resolves errors. Develops standard or custom reports, queries, or dashboards that access and consolidate information from a variety of data sources, and provide ongoing support for data users. Utilizes data mining techniques and develops data models to assist in the visualization and interpretation of data.

The role typically reports to the Director of Data Engineering, manages no direct reports, and has high contact and interaction with customers and vendor partners. Works independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

  • BI Solution Development: Design, develop, and deploy business intelligence solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Data Modeling: Develop and maintain data models that support the reporting and analysis needs of the business.
  • ETL Processes: Design and implement efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is accurately collected, processed, and stored.
  • Database Management: Work with relational and non-relational databases to structure and optimize data storage and retrieval.
  • Reporting: Create and manage reports using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, etc.) and ensure they meet business requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and improve the performance of BI tools and queries to ensure optimal data retrieval and processing times.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all BI processes, including data sources, data models, and reporting structures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of BI solutions.
  • Training: Provide training and support to end-users to maximize the effective use of BI tools and resources.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Req
Work Experience

  • 2-4 years of relevant report writing experience using BI and Analytical tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, OBIEE, Qlikview, Cognos, Business Objects, SSRS, Access Req
  • of advanced level experience in designing and building business-friendly interactive dashboards in Tableau Req
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) Req
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Pref
  • Experience with Tableau BI development. Pref
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices. Pref
  • Association or publishing industry experience Pref
Skills and Requirements

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Solid MSWord, PowerPoint, Visio, and GoogleTools skills
  • Solid presentation, public speaking, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques
  • Understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate them into meaningful insights
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytic, problem-solving, conceptual, and data interpretation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information effectively to technical and non-technical users
  • Demonstrated understanding of business intelligence best practices
