Job Description

Student Affairs Facilities and Operations seeks a Business Manager to oversee the tracking and control of expenses related to purchasing, budgeting, and reporting for various areas including residence halls, student centers, and dining halls. The Business Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with university and state regulations, identifying cost-saving opportunities, managing complex procedures and processes, and maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders. We're seeking a candidate with strong skills in attention to detail, use of Excel and other reporting software, budgetary research and reporting, enterprise management software (Banner SCT), and electronic purchasing software. You'll be helping us best allocate the resources for our student's campus experience through data-supported decisions.

Here's what you need to know about the role:

1) You'll join the Student Affairs Facilities and Operations team; a department that works to support the facilities for housing, dining, and student centers encompassing approximately 160 employees and 3.4M square feet of campus facilities.

2) You'll report to the Director of Facilities and Operations, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% university staff position.

3) You'll partner with the Student Affairs planning and finance office on a regular basis continuing a strong relationship.

4) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $65,000 and $70,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and procurement in a complex organization.
• Strong skills in Excel, budgetary reporting, Banner SCT or similar enterprise management software, and electronic purchasing software systems.
• Knowledge of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent education and experience in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and procurement in a complex organization, preferably in a university or facilities management setting
