Summary

As a Special Projects Coordinator Lead you will manage multiple high visibility projects for services based and/or product-line based segments of an FAA Logistics Center customer's business under the minimal direction of a manager. In this role, the individual will coordinate with managers on the synchronization of various resources.

Duties

Serves as a Special Projects Coordinator Lead. Employee is a recognized subject matter expert performing highly complex and challenging activities under the minimal direction of the manager. As the Lead, directs and assigns work of team members. Participates in developing responses to bargaining unit inquires, grievances, and notification to union representatives. Reports and makes recommendation to the sub-team manager on performance, progress and training needs of employees, complaint resolution, and disciplinary actions.

Incumbent leads a group of employees in lower-level job categories that are involved in developing, preparing, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining various project/program deliverables and metrics. Coordinate objectives with the management team, employees, and customers on strategies to support the application of advanced concepts in logistics, supply chain fulfillment, acquisition, and procurement. Communicate regularly and provide weekly reports to the management team on the status of budget, schedule, products and services, Service Order Agreements (SOAs), contracts, and additional funded metric requirements.

Applies experience and expert knowledge of management principles, processes and the analytical and evaluative methods and techniques for assessing program and improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Applies experience and expert knowledge applicable to his or her discipline to conduct functional activities for projects/programs that often require the development of new and innovative approaches. Identifies and resolves challenging problems or issues that often cross organizational boundaries and impact on the accomplishment of strategic objectives.

Work closely with the management team and the key personnel in the development, preparation, implementation, coordination, maintenance, and administration of policies, for various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data systems (such as IMPACT, Tableau, JIRA), and key management tools needed to manage and report project/program metrics. Provide leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under the minimal direction of a manager or executive. Will act as a special project coordinator to develop new and innovative approaches, methodologies, and/or techniques to reporting project/program status and metrics. Provide daily and weekly status updates and reports. Work with project/program managers to closely monitor the spending against the budget and make recommendations about how to reallocate funding to spend their funds in accordance with franchise fund rules and appropriation law.

Leadership responsibilities include assigning work, reviewing work in progress, evaluating work for achievement of goals/objectives, balancing assignments, providing instructions on methods and processes, and short-term leave approval (up to 8 hours). Monitors effectiveness of operations and identifies problems utilizing appropriate regulations and procedures. Performs analysis of metrics and provides report of findings to management. Leads integrated project/program teams; designs and recommends solutions to complex problems; predicting potential issues and proposing preventive actions, assists with coordination of new and reoccurring training and recertification, develop and maintain the mentoring program and develops and recommends improvements to systems and/or processes to improve operational efficiency. Consults with the manager or more experienced specialists concerning significant departures or modifications to work processes prior to implementation of new approaches. Stays alert to changing customer needs and challenges, seeking and using customer feedback and suggestions to enhance effectiveness.

Qualifications

To qualify at the FV-J (GS/FG 14/15) level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I (GS/FG 13) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes: Experience directing and assigning work to team members; monitoring effectiveness of operations; identify and recommending solutions to complex problems; analyze and evaluate status of budget, schedule, products and services, Service Order Agreements (SOAs), contracts, and additional funded metric requirements; provide weekly reports or briefings to management team; develop new and innovative approaches; monitor spending against budget and recommending alternatives related to reallocation of funds in accordance with franchise fund rules.
