Job description

Job Summary
The Buyer will procure, at minimum total cost, the necessary materials, components and/or sub-assemblies to manufacture saleable products. Responsible for negotiating for and procuring a variety of assigned commodities including those which are non-standard or of a technical nature. Develop suppliers to meet our delivery, cost and quality requirements while maintaining assigned inventory levels.

Essential Job Functions

• Evaluate prices, specifications, and delivery dates and award contract to bidders or place orders with suppliers.
• Prepare purchasing documentation and verifying nomenclature and specifications of purchasing requisitions.
• Develop expertise on procurement of commodities related to integrated cockpit solutions products and components that support Aerospace requirements.
• Implementing continuous replenishment strategies with assigned suppliers.
• Execute supplier rationalization plans and support transition to existing and/or new suppliers.
• Support negotiation and execution of commercial agreement to reach lowest total cost including terms to mitigate economic and currency fluctuations as appropriate for assigned commodities (e.g., long-term agreements, make/buy, market tests, etc.).
• Supports, and when required lead, cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives.
• Update and maintain purchase orders in Materials Resource Planning (MRP) system for changes in design and delivery requirements.
• Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities / capacities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.
• Analyze data, including enterprise requirements, planning information, and prepare reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.
• Evaluate supplier performance requirements including quality, cost and timing expectations.
• Work with vendors for improved delivery, quality, lead time, and price performance. Evaluating these metrics with the critical suppliers regularly.
• Comply with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
• Improve internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Comply with Supply Chain and Purchasing procedures and Quality System requirements
• Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law, company's policies and regulations requirements. Proactive in the Safran HSE standards and procedures within their daily work, staying alert to potential safety hazards when learning or implementing something new (skills and/or
equipment)

Potential travel between Irvine, California and other locations up to 10%.
Additional description

• Bachelor of Science degree in from an accredited institution required.
• Typical experience: 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

• Must have SAP Experience
• The position requires a working knowledge of commodities purchased, supply sources, contracting methods and strategies, and Company products and components.

• Previous work experience in Supply Chain Management, preferred
• CPSM or CPM certification, preferred
• Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, preferred.
• Familiarity/experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques (e.g., RCCA, Six Sigma methodology), preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO-9001, preferred.
• Use of and deployment of electronic data interchange procurement and continuous replenishment methods, preferred.
• Knowledge of procurement methods, cycle count steps, hazard Materials Lean and Continuous Improvement (Kaizen)
