JOB DESCRIPTION:
Serve as an instructional facilitator in development and improvement of instructional programs and staff development initiatives in the area of Language Arts and grade levels assigned.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the CISD Instructional Model and best practices in Language Arts for all students.


2. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Language Arts in the grade level range assigned.


3. Distribute current information on major trends and best practices in Language Arts for CISD students.


4. Demonstrate commitment to the district instructional coaching position.


5. Model consistent instructional leadership to the highest level.


6. Demonstrate steps taken for professional growth.


7. Demonstrate understanding of the District's demographics and special programs (Bilingual/ESL, Special Education, etc.), and provide authentic instructional strategies in such programs.


8. Provide leadership in the generation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to prepare students for success on state assessments.


9. Develop original training, protocols, and activities.


10. Modify current staff development to specific audiences.


11. Take initiative with curriculum, instruction, and staff development activities.


12. Use masterful presentation skills when training, and demonstrate ease of performance.


13. Evaluate the quality of available instructional materials.


14. Develop curriculum to a high level of rigor utilizing research.


15. Develop original ideas for curriculum and instruction.


16. Problem solve in difficult situations.


17. Analyze District and campus data, as well as make provisions for aligned instructional strategies/interventions.


18. Develop cross curriculum and corresponding instruction.


19. Create quality common formative assessments.


20. Model instructional best teaching practices in Language Arts.


21. Construct online staff development training.


22. Use current technology in an instructional setting.


23. Deliver accelerated instruction to at-risk and struggling students in small group to raise their achievement level.


24. Grades K-4: Complete the CISD Reading Academy according to established timelines at the time of hire.


25. Regular attendance.


26. Maintain confidentiality.


27. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

• Three years of successful classroom teaching experience in Language Arts at the elementary and/or intermediate level


• Experience in staff development presentations required


• Experience in development of Language Arts curriculum


• Multiple grade level experience

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in education
• Valid Texas teaching certificate in the area of language arts within the grade levels assigned
• Valid ESL endorsement
• Grades K-4: Valid Reading Academy Certificate of Completion, if applicable

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong working knowledge of instructional strategies/interventions for at-risk students
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
• Strong organization, communication, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
• Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and staff development
• Strong training and thorough knowledge of CISD READS and WRITES
• Strong training of the District's developmental reading assessments and purpose
• Strong training and knowledge of Reader's and Writer's Workshop and the CISD literacy framework
• Strong training of Guided Reading practices and daily documentation requirements
• Thorough knowledge of the District's word study and phonics instructional practices
• Current training and thorough knowledge of creating quality common assessment
