In coordination with the Coordinator of Student Life & Engagement, the Campus Life & Student Activities Specialist engages with Laurel Ridge students to build a sense of community, connection, and fun. This Specialist schedules and hosts a variety of activities and events at the Middletown Campus, including recreation and wellness programming, social gatherings, and co-curricular offerings. The Specialist collaborates with our diverse student population and English Language Learning program each year on the Go Global! diversity and global awareness event, celebrates our Veterans during Veterans Week in November, helps plan off-campus mystery bus or road trip excursions, and more. They work with various student services and academic divisions to promote inclusivity and equitability in all student engagement opportunities.

Core responsibilities will include:
  • Plans, markets, and implements student activities and events
  • Collaborates with college and community stakeholders to develop engagement, recreational, and wellness programs
  • Creates and promotes co-curricular programs
  • Promotes Student Life & Engagement efforts
  • Assist with first-year experience programming
  • Supports the Coordinator of Student Life & Engagement
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position is $32,524.00-$43,907.00. Salary will be commensurate with competencies and experience. The position is classified staff and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven subject matter knowledge, which may be evidenced by training, experience, and/or credentials
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills (ability to multitask, maintain a level of organization and attention to detail).
  • Flexibility with prioritizing deadlines and managing expectations and/or multiple projects at the same time.
  • Experience working with a diverse population (ability to relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education preferred.
  • Experience with program planning (ability to plan within a set budget, market of events and activities, book venues, work with internal and external constituents, manage logistics for events and activities, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in offering activities and building awareness around recreation and wellness preferred.
