Capacity Building for Edu-Futuro's Workforce Development Ser

The goal of Edu-Futuro's VISTA project is to fulfill its mission of empowering immigrant and underserved youth and families through mentorship, education, leadership development, parent engagement, and workforce development. As a result of their capacity-building service, Edu-Futuro will end the cycle of poverty among low-income immigrant and Latino families in northern Virginia through sustainable means. The Curriculum Design VISTA member will help build capacity by assisting the development of curriculums for our youth development programs in the Emerging Leaders Program series. The Curriculum Design VISTA member will support Edu-Futuro through their experience and interest in education and in working with immigrant and Latino communities. Working with Edu-Futuro's Youth Programs team, the VISTA member will research, develop, and assist in the implementation of multiple curricula for the Emerging Leaders Program series. This helps Edu-Futuro achieve its mission to meet the needs of its beneficiaries in the area of youth development and empowering them to seek post-secondary education. Additionally, Edu-Futuro is piloting a program to encourage more careers in health, by establishing a track for healthcare career exploration and exposure. This curriculum could help close the gap of underrepresentation of Latinos in the healthcare field, improve their quality of life via impactful and gainful employment.

Member Duties : Member Activity: In collaboration with Edu-Futuro's Youth Programs team, develop curriculum with a cultural understanding of our beneficiaries. Much of the curriculum will emphasize health education. Member Activity: In collaboration with Edu-Futuro's Youth Programs team, develop measurable learning objectives for beneficiaries of our youth programs, ensuring a holistic understanding of the material. Member Activity: In collaboration with Edu-Futuro's Youth Programs team, develop learning materials and guides for current and future staff to have in place after member's service term ends. This will ensure the sustainability of the curriculum.
