JOB SUMMARY:

Capture Engineer in Defense & Special Missions will be responsible for supporting the Sales team in the pursuit of new developmental business through requirements shaping, assisting the bids and proposal process, initial project planning, and managing product plans and strategies of internal development and customer funded programs for Defense and Special Missions related Textron Aviation products. This role may interface with all levels of management and with customers internally and externally.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary point of contact and responsible for building relationships with the customer, vetting solutions for their needs, capturing the opportunity, defining the project, and ensuring the product can be delivered on time and on budget
  • Manage product plans and strategies, coordinate throughout the company to ensure alignment of priorities and resources
  • Obtain requirements from customers, Program Management, Sales and interface with all Engineering functions to define specific requirements for internal and external programs
  • Lead all engineering functions in the development of concepts to provide solutions to mission requirements
  • Support the Bids & Proposals teams with responses to sales requests, bidding, and proposal input; primarily through engineering expertise, mission understanding, and experience with project execution
  • Plan and coordinate developmental projects in advance of execution start to ensure seamless transitions to the execution Project Engineering teams, utilizing the New Product & Service Introduction (NP&SI) process
  • Coordination with the Sales, Capture, Proposal, Technical Solutions, Program Management, and all other internal teams necessary to capture new programs.
  • Coordination with internal and external modifiers for mission specific configurations.
  • Maintain awareness of the market, industry, competitors, suppliers, innovative solutions, and trends to better inform product plans and strategy

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering or relative field
  • 2 years' Engineering or relative experience


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity of both FAA and military programs and certification activities preferred
  • Processes and understanding of Design and can read engineering drawings and parts list
  • Ability to produce technical writings such as Statements of Work for internal and external customers
  • General knowledge of both Beechcraft and Cessna products preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task in a very fast paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority and exhibits managerial courage
  • Strong business acumen
  • Developing process improvement initiatives
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft desktop publishing applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Adobe Acrobat)
  • General knowledge of Cessna and Beechcraft tools, such as DDS/Enovia V6 (Beechcraft) and EEDS/Enovia v6 (Cessna)
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate internally and externally
  • Local and international travel may be necessary
