Job Summary/Basic Function

WSU Career Services is looking for a positive, team-oriented individual with strong interpersonal and project management skills to:
  • Coordinate special events for the office which may include planning, scheduling, logistics, online registration, food, staff coverage, customer service, outcomes evaluation, etc.
  • Work closely with our mentor program under the direction of the program director - this includes coordinating mentor coverage and customer service, serving on multiple hiring committees and helping make student hiring decisions, managing the day-to-day activities of the front office, assisting with regular trainings and meetings, meeting one-on-one with students to teach resume/interviewing and take professional headshots as needed, and working with the program director to establish a strong and collaborative mentor team.
  • Manage financial and administrative operations for the office under the guidance of the Director (budget, reconciliations, purchases, audits, time/attendance, etc.).
  • Assist department leadership with administrative duties including overseeing staff recognitions, coordinating the annual planning retreat, and help facilitate office trainings/activities.
  • Chair or participate in committees within Career Services or the University as requested.
  • Collect, organize, process, and submit Career Services data around events, classes, appointments, and Handshake logins for university NOW Data records.
  • Learn and understand Wildcat Handshake software by using it often and attending Handshake facilitated training to provide Handshake assistance to staff members and faculty with their accounts, and assist in employer questions as needed. Also oversee employer collections within Handshake with the help of Career Services staff and student employees.
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.


  • Required Qualifications

    Required:
    • Associate degree (or two years of full-time college/university coursework from an accredited institution).
    • Two years related full-time experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong technical and computer skills including Mac OS or Windows OS and MS Word/Excel (or similar).
    Preferred Qualifications

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated history of exceptional accomplishments, including the ability to successfully manage complex projects and/or events with minimal supervision and meet deadlines. Seeking applicants with the following abilities/qualities: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.; positive, upbeat personality and solution-focused work style; solid verbal and written communication skills; organized, reliable and detail oriented; collaborative and able to work effectively with people who's views and perspectives may differ from their own.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent academic history (GPA >3.0 is strongly preferred - greater preference for GPA 3.5 or higher), experience with one or more relevant WSU computer systems (WSU Handshake, PawPlace, TAS, Electronic Finance Feed, etc.); prior experience working in a Career Services office.
